Retro 2025 Movie Story

In the 1960s, Sandhya, the wife of a gangster, adopts an orphaned child with a spear-shaped scar on his stomach. She names him Barivel “Barry” Kannan and lovingly raises him, while her husband, Thilajan, refuses to acknowledge the boy. After Sandhya’s death, a teenage Barry meets Rukimini at their mother’s funeral rites. When Thilajan is ambushed, Barry saves him, earning Thilajan’s reluctant respect.

By 1982, Thilajan has remarried and has a biological son. Barry remains loyal to him and his criminal empire, even though his new wife sees him as a mere henchman. Upon meeting Rukimini, now a veterinarian, Barry falls deeply in love with her. After a four-year courtship, they plan to marry. At their wedding, Barry announces that he is leaving his life of crime. But Thilagan accuses him of sabotaging a high-stakes arms deal—codenamed “Goldfish”—that involves smuggled weapons for chief ministerial candidate Dharman. Barry pleads guilty but doesn’t reveal the location of the hidden cache. Enraged, Barry attempts to kill Rukmini, but Barry retaliates, cutting off his hand in the process. He is immediately arrested and imprisoned. Devastated by his relapse into violence, Rukmini leaves him and moves to an unknown location.

Years later, Barry is promised early release if he fights for a secret cult. Upon learning that Rukmini is in the Andaman Islands, he escapes from custody and heads there. To retrieve her, Chaplin kidnaps Lali, a comedian, and impersonates him. The real Lali agrees under duress. On the island, Barry pretends to be Lali and meets Rukmini again, who is unaware that he is in disguise. The island is ruled by the tyrannical Lord Milton and his son, Freddy, who abuses animals and mistreats Rukmini. When Freddy goes too far, Pari violently attacks him. A humiliated Freddy hires a cult leader to capture Pari. After identifying him, the cult leader informs his superior, Michael, and warns Telagan.

Michael runs a deadly cult of gladiatorial games between the island’s rich and poor slaves. The results of the matches are fixed, and the losers are fed to crocodiles by Michael’s father, Rajavel. Michael reveals Pari’s true identity during a comedy show, shocking Rukmini, who walks away in disbelief. Pari accepts her decision and joins the cult. In his first match, Pari’s brutal skill astounds the audience. Michael recognizes him as a star and throws a party to celebrate. There, the drunken Pari discovers the secret location of a hidden treasure, the Golden Ripka. Later, when they are attacked by enslaved locals, they notice his scar and realize he is the child prophesied in local legend—the child destined to return the sacred spear to Jada Muni and kill Rajavel.

They discover Pari’s true identity: he was born to Pasupati and Pallavi, islanders who had a twin—Pari, actually called Jada Muni by his biological parents, and a sister. Fearing Rajavel’s wrath, they smuggled Pari to India. He was adopted by Sandhya after his protector was killed. Now aware of his roots, Pari meets his real father, Pasupati. The next day, Pari returns to the arena, fighting for the poor. After winning, he names Michael and Rajavel as the weakest—and condemns them to death. Pari defeats Michael in a brutal duel, but spares his life, humiliating him instead. Pari then attacks Rajavel’s estate, kills him, and retrieves the sacred spear.

At the Jada Muni temple, Pari returns the astrologer’s spear and meets Pallavi and his twin sister. Rukmini, finally understanding the whole truth, reconciles with Pari. He promises her that he has found his dharma—his true path—and has renounced violence. But peace is short-lived. Thilagan, Michael, and Freddy arrive at the temple to kill them. They are shocked to see Pari’s family and the islanders pointing bazookas at them—which turn out to be the weapons of the long-lost goldfish. Thilagan realizes that Pari has outmaneuvered everyone. Pari calmly asks her mother to shoot. Now with the power, Valus fires a warning shot, forcing them to surrender. The next day, the islanders rejoice in their newfound freedom when Pari and Rukmini finally marry, fulfilling both the prophecy and love.
